Which Would She Prefer A Gift Card Or A Personal Chef

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, the scramble has begun to find the perfect mother’s day gift. And, while a gift certificate for the spa is a great idea, that’s what you got mom last year! And chocolates are so unoriginal. And you are way past the age where “something home-made” will fly! So, what to get the woman who deserves only the best? Here is a list of a few unique and original things that will definitely show mom just how much she is loved.
1 – A gift certificate for a personal chef service. This is a great idea.  These types of services have become quite the trend in most major cities. The idea is that these “prepared meal delivery” services will make fully home-cooked meals that are healthy and delicious and deliver them right to mom’s door. Let’s face it, after years of cooking and preparing, mom can use a night or two off a week to enjoy some “me” time. In the Montreal area, Mama Mimi’s is a good meal delivery service but there are several popping up in most major cities.
2 – Subtly find out what is on mom’s “bucket list”. Everyone has several “things” that they would like to get done before they die and mom is no exception. With some carefully worded questions, you can find out if mom wants to go sky-diving, or take violin lessons, or go to the Opera. Help mom by getting some bucket list items crossed off!
3 – A photobook. Mom has been in your life for a long time and your family has a ton of memories, some good, some not-so-good, but all them together make mom the woman she is today. And nothing could make mom happier than the story of her life, and that of her family, in a beautifully put together leather binding. Blurb is a good quality online photobook vendor, but there are several all over the place. And the best part is, it can all be done online in 30 minutes or less!
4 – A class or a course. People like learning new things and mom is no exception. Not only does mom get to learn something new and interesting, but it also gets mom out of the house for a night or two a week. Whether mom is into wine tasting courses, Indian cooking classes, salsa dancing or wants to learn a new language, there’s a class out there with mom’s name on it!
5 – Give her a session with a stylist. Mom has probably been dressing in the same style and with the same hairstyle for years now. But, it’s hard to find something new. A session with a talented stylist can be just the thing to get mom feeling like a woman again. And, let’s face it, even mom’s want to feel like women now and then!!

So, skip the flower aisle at the grocery store and forget the tried-and-true chocolates, get something really personalised this year. Because every mom deserves a little thought and planning!
